Just the standard thunderbolt USB-C cable that comes in the box with the Studio Display. But realistically any USB-C cable including the one that comes with the iPad should work.

@@sukhdeepsm I use my iPad Pro on my computer monitor with stage manger , any recommendations on how I can not only connect my iPad with my USB c but also get it to charge? It,won’t do both when connected to my monitor. Any link recommendations

Hmm, good question. 2 solutions come to mind: (1) if you have a Magic Keyboard Case there’s a USB-C port on the left-side of the hinge that supports charging (2) if you don’t own a Magic Keyboard, you could try getting a USB-C hub and connecting that to your iPad and monitor - just make sure that the USB-C ports offer power delivery and display support. Admittedly, it’s not an issue I’ve had to deal with personally because the Apple Studio Display offers power delivery through the USB-C connection, so it charges the iPad at the same time. Out of curiosity, what monitor are you using?

For watching videos the 13-inch is more immersive, especially for movies (not to say 11-inches is bad), but for reading the 11-inch is the winner for me (you can read with the 13-inch, bit it just feels a bit awkward juggling a laptop-sized screen in your hands). But maybe consider your use case - like if you’re reading with your iPad, how many hours is it for each day? And then compare that to how long you spend typing with the keyboard during the day to see which use case will benefit you more

@@sukhdeepsm Ok. Yes the 11 inch is easier to hold while reading. Regarding videos I have seen some youtube videos that the 13 inch doesn't really give 2 extra inches for video. You get more black bars up and below. Is that true ? because when you zoom to fill the screen you lose some content, so I don't prefer zooming especially youtube videos.

@@81179venky yeah so because the aspect ratios are different the 13 inch does have bigger bars at the top on most 16:9 videos - you can sort of see the difference in the B-roll I included towards the end when I mentioned the 13-inch iPad feeling like a TV. Despite this though I still found the 13-inch to be more immersive than the 11-inch for consuming content, and I didn’t feel the need to ever zoom in on content

If the iPad is going to be your main computer I’d personally be leaning towards the 13-inch, it just feels better for productivity imo. Equally, I’m a huge external monitor fan. I think the ability to just plug your iPad straight into a display and turn it into a >21-inch screen is a game changer and definitely worth investing in if you study a lot at home. If I could only pick between the 13-inch iPad or the 11-inch + external monitor, I’d probably go 11-inch + external monitor since that gives you the best of both worlds. Also, if you’re getting the Magic Keyboard case alongside the iPad you could probably get away without using an external keyboard/trackpad and save some money there if that’s of any relief. Hope this helps.

@@sukhdeepsm ok thanks, yeah now I am a bit stuck, because I think the 13 inch is better than the 11 inch, but the monitor could be more beneficial. However my needs will mostly be for school work, note taking for school, and general RUclips and relaxing, so what do you think? Do I need to get a monitor? Or is the 13 inch better instead?

If you’re mostly using your iPad for note-taking the 13 inch is probably the better option, sure you don’t get as much screen real estate as with a monitor, but hey it’s not like you can use your Apple Pencil to draw on an external display, so it wouldn’t really benefit your use case. And for general content consumption, most affordable monitors come with LCD displays and speakers that pale in comparison to the OLED display and 4-speaker sound system you get on the iPad Pro. But that’s just my take.

Yeah it does with the Studio Display. Usually I’m only on calls during the day, so I’ll just take the screen bar off. If I happen to be hopping on a call later at night, I’ll just nudge the screen bar to the side to make the web cam visible. Probably not the most aesthetic solution, but it gets the job done

@@octny ended up keeping the 11 inch. Might make a video explaining more, but I just found the 13 inch a bit too cumbersome to use as a tablet, even with the slimmer design and lighter weight

@@sukhdeepsm 100% agree. The 13” screen size is dope but the footprint kills it as a portable/desktop device. The 13” is best used with the keyboard and if I’m using it that way I’d rather use a MacBook. The 11” you can do both

Good point I should’ve mentioned. I listen to a lot of Punjabi music and there are quite a lot of songs (especially older, non-mainstream) ones which aren’t on AM. YT Music might be a solution if your favourite songs are getting removed from both, since I imagine that if a song has been uploaded to YT it’ll show somewhere in YT Music (I’ve never tried it, but it’s just a thought that came to my mind)

To be fair, I use the keyboard a lot in my lap and when lying on my bed, so showcasing the difference between the 11’ and 13’ tipping in real life was VERY useful to me (since I’m still deciding which size to get) Can’t speak for everyone of course, but thought I’d put it out there

Apple does screw their customers with over priced inferior technology but can't deny their music quality is top tier.

Hmm, yeah I guess I went with 2,000 because that was Apple's official spec, though granted in real world scenarios the actual brightness can differ a lot, so you may get even higher than 2,000 in some cases

Then why does Apple advertise 200 nit max outdoors?

@@robny I think the way it works is 2,000 nits is the brightness level they ask their suppliers to target, but in reality some displays will output 2,100 nits, some displays 1,950, some display 2,002 nits (i.e. not exactly 2,000). Apple and their suppliers have a way of quality controlling to ensure that displays under 1,900 nits or over 2,100 nits (or whatever their allowances are) don’t make it into the final product, but you can imagine occasionally you end up with a display that deviates and has 2,300 nits and has somehow made it into a released iPhone. But on average if you took 1 million iPhones, their peak brightness should average at about 2,000 overall.

Great question! I personally use the glossy version of the Studio Display alongside the Halo and have encountered no issues - BenQ have done a great job at ensuring there is no screen glare onto the monitor. So based on that I’d probably say the nano-texture glass isn’t worth the $300 premium, especially since it could also affect the quality/resolution of the display. Hope that helps :)
